Well, at least thinking about it. I work 28/28 and thought Thailand, especially not of the "in your face nightlife" variety like HH would be nice to spend my off-shifts at. I have nearly decided but a few things still confuse me. Like getting around...? Everybody on this forum says that if you drive a car or ride a scooter you are asking for trouble. Well, how do you guys get around? To the shop, to the beach, to the golf course, to BKK, wherever...? Don't fancy walking for miles every day with golf clubs or kitesurfing gear on my back...
Also could anybody help with info generally about the expat scene and the practicalities like renting a house long term, wheels, entertainment, safety etc? Thanks.
Moving to HH soon

Most of the info you seek is on here somewhere, just have a read around and use the search function, there is also a good list of common topics.
With regards to getting around, four wheels or two are safe and fine, you just need to have eyes in the back of your head and the patience of a saint!

The charm of asia is more than the girlies !
Hi Basil,
I got a motorbike in Hua Hin traffic is ok but I would not have one in Bangkok as the motorcycle taxis in the capital regard life as a transient to the next life so whatever you promise God to get you there alive you better do.
Anytime you come to the Capital I am a Hua Hin boy but I commute kicking and screaming to Bkk every week I am conversant with all the Rail links and streets so just get in touch when you get here.
my profile info can be found on bangkok contacts dot com as well as 50,000 other movers and shakers in the capital
