Just been informed that Steve Ross has died in hospital, i was told he had pneumonia but that is all i know.
To those who didnt know him, he was a big sports fan, he loved golf, football and cricket and was a tenacious, determined player in whatever activity he took part in.
One particular memory was of Steve being adamant that playing the pro tees on the golf course in the Monday roll up was going to make it impossible for him to compete, he growled and complained his way to one of his best ever rounds and won the bloody tournament!
In the last few years Steve was devoted to his girlfriend, he was obviously very much in love and contented.
RIP Steve

Johnny, you beat me to the punch posting this sad news. Apparently he had bouts of bronchitis over the last year or so, and appeared to be getting better, only to be struck down with pneumonia. A gruff, no-nonsense Yorkshireman who always played a straight bat and called a spade a spade in my experience; not everyone's cup of tea but he will be missed. Another expat who has been taken too early, but he had found happiness from all accounts, so lets be thankful for that.
RIP.
RIP.
RIP Steve
When I first came to Hua Hin, Steve could not have been more helpful to me. Inside this gruff exterior was a really kind and caring man. Most times he did a great job of hiding his true nature but it was there and I write this a very sore heart. Last time I played golf with Steve he was outraged. They had put in a new bunker at Palm Hills exactly where he had hit his superb drive. Sorry Steve but they tend to put bunkers on golf courses. That was our Steve!! When Johnny Walker hit a tee shot close to us, I marvelled at the great drive, Steve grumped and groaned that it was too close. But that was Steve and it was his way. We all have our faults but bottom line, this guy has left us too early, much, much too early. RIP my good friend.
I had a few wee disgreements with Steve - usually after some lucky pool shot i had hit (it happens often and can be very annoying) - it was really funny to see him seething, It was uaually forgotten after a wee while.
He was one of the characters that will not be forgotten - as Ken said there was a nice guy under the thick skin. My thoughts go to his girlfriend who i guess saw the best of him.
Anyone know about the arrangements.... i heard Petburi but not sure.
