Immortality

Post by Randy Cornhole »

Is it just me, but as I get older and people around me die or get ill, I find it harder to deal with!
When I was much younger (teenager) and someone died, you just thought, bloody hell thank god thats not me, and shrug it off. Now when it happens It affects me for months, sometimes filling hours of the day....
I find myself becomming more and more morose and depressed as each year passes, and more people pass away.
I need a drink.....

Can totally relate. I think as we get older, our bodies begin to betray us - in subtle and not so subtle ways. No matter how much we exercise, eat right, live right, time creeps on, and we feel our own mortality deep in the bones, so to speak. When people around us die, it only reinforces what's in store for us..and it sucks...especially when we want to live forever in Thailand! ....jeez, and to think just a few minutes ago I was so jacked about my upcoming trip! Thanks a bunch! :guns: I'm drinking Bell's Scotch. Nothing better in my opinion.

One should not morousely dwell on immortality. Make immorality, not immortality.

I have the complete opposite experience...when I was a teenager I thought it horrible when someone close passed away.
It still is, but in the past 2 years I've experienced 4 funerals (and no wedding) and it starts to become more of a natural "part of life"..

death

not the most cheerful of subjects!!
i suppose it all comes down to what you believe in as to how you react to death. its a fact that from the moment you are born, you're dying. when & how is a matter of your own personal destiny.
i'm not at all religious but i do believe that when i leave this earth my soul will go home. where that is, i don't really know but hopefully a better place than this.
can't say i get depressed thinking about it, although its sad when you lose someone close such as a relative or friend.
people have differing views on the afterlife etc. just don't see the point in life if when you die you get buried & thats it. there has to be more reason to life/death than that. we will all find out one day thats for sure. in the meantime i will continue to live for today because tomorrow might just be my day of destiny.
Remember, no one can make you feel inferior without your consent.
