I know Papa Johns burns a good cut of beef but where else can I go for a nice flame broiled chunk of cow?

Both Lostivale and brasserie de paris both do a good fillet steak, but expect to pay for it. Approx 500 bht but the quality of the meat is excellent.

Were is Lostivale? I usually just skirt the places on the outside of town so if it's central downtown night area I'm a little lost.

I've said before on this forum that in my opinion the best steak will be found at "Uno's".

You will find this restaurant by passing the monkey mountain turn off in Khao Takiep/b (which is on the left coming from Hua Hin), going over the little bridge and following your nose for maybe 200 meters. It's on the right hand side.

Not only is their steak good.....every dish I have had there has been top quality.

A very biased opinion as I eat there on a regular basis but the Steaks at El'Murphy's are to die for. Australian imported beef I believe, and cooked just how you like it. 10oz tender fillet for 400b can't go wrong. Give it a whirl, let me know what you think. Oh.. and home made chips. Yummie.

Of course opinions such as this are biased. I enjoy telling El Murphy's every time I go there how I am hoping one day to get a decent steak. But the truth is they ARE good and good value.

It is 240 Baht for an 8 oz ribeye or 6 oz sirloin - which is not to be sneezed at. Especially when the quality of the meat allows you (as I like) to have it medium-rare.

I always look at food in terms of value for money. I have paid 800+ Baht for a steak that was rubbish because at that price you expect something extra-special. And (not in Hua Hin) I have enjoyed a 120 Baht water-buffalo (albeit very well done) steak.

Try the Four Seasons. It's on the road (Naresdamri??) leading to the Hilton. It's on the left hand side going from Sofitel towards the Hilton, opposite the Brewery just before getting to Soi Bintabaht.

They do a great Chateaubriand steak for 655 Baht - and that's for 2 people. Served with vegetables, chips or mashed potatoes (ask nicely and they'll serve both) and choice of sauces (pepper, etc) (again ask and they'll ghive you several to try). Steaks are very good and sliced at your table. Plenty for 2 people.

Ate there again last night (27th) and tried their ribs - very nice. My wife had lamb chops and her sister fillet steak and they too were delicious. Other friends have eaten there and been very pleased. Service staff very friendly.

(I have no connection with the restaurant)

Tried the sirloin in El Murphys last night and really enjoyed it. Nice salad, coleslaw, Jacket Potatoe - really good value, good service, well cooked.
Will try their mexican for sure now, maybe tonight!
