Looking for friends and information

Post by Rocket Ron »

I lived in a delightful bungalow in Soi 79 from Dec 06 to May 07 only returning to Uk because of aged Mum's knee jobs. (Mine next) I am very keen to return but would like to have gainful employment. I am a fully qualified teacher and would like to know if there are opportunities to teach in schools or the children of of ex pats or privately with any nationality. I have been a supply teacher for 12 years and covered most subjects. I have a pension that would adequately support me in wonderful Thailand but my mind needs exercise.
All contributions and suggestions about navigating around this site would be well received. Hi there you folks in George's bar and I think it was Victoria's cafe where I had my breakfast most days. Lovely porridge. Do I have the right Forum for this message. I hope I can retrieve the replies.

Regards Ron

Navigating around the site is pretty easy. If you're looking for something specific, try the search function and you'll probably get the answers you're looking for a lot quicker than wading through all the forums. It's on the front page, down at the bottom on the right hand side.
We have a couple of teachers as members, so I'll leave the ins and outs of teaching here to them.

I have 2 friends here that are teachers at - Suan Dusit university. They love teaching here. Apparently they are always seeking out good qualified teachers.

Yes, there are plenty of teaching jobs around (have a look at www.ajarn.com for starters), but as always it's horses for courses. And 99% of available jobs are in Bangkok. But there's work around here if you're patient. It doesn't sound like you're in dire financial need of a job the minute you get back, so take your time, have a good look round, go and speak to the local schools and universities (they'll all have some farang staff).

Teaching privately isn't as easy as it sounds, and you're almost certainly working illegally unless you're part of a formal set-up - not usually worth it.
This is the way

There are several schools in the Hua Hin area currently recruting quallified teachers as the school terms are ending in the next month and many teachers move jobs in this period.

The website ajarn is the best place to start as someones already mentioned.

Please note when using ajarn the appropriate filter is pracubkiri khan for the Hua Hin area and that should bring up local jobs.

I've never been on ajarn forum, but unless for some reason they've encoded the name for this area, I think prachuab (or prachuap) kirikhan
might work better. ;) :)
