Ask here about the pleasures and pitfalls of buying, selling or renting property and real estate in Hua Hin. Building, design and construction topics welcome. Commercial or promotional posts for real estate companies or private properties are forbidden.
They wanted to take photos of the housing projects to feature in a Police Magazine being publishes in honour of the King and Queen, with a special feature on how nice Hua Hin is, how well it is developing and a sample of what estate agents and projects are available.
Not a single question about farang involvement or the like, only compliments.
Nice.

PS: Did anyone get kicked out of their houses today by the visitors ??
Maybe next time they come then, hey
Did they ask for donations to the 'benevolent fund'?
Slightly on another note, a friend who lives in The Heights had his house used for a TV commercial shoot about 10 days ago.

No, but he got 8K baht for letting his house be used for an afternoon and they cleaned everything up perfectly.
In the UK you can write to the TV companies , enclosing photos, and get your property of any sort put on the locations register.
It can be a grand house or a cottage , Evan an old warehouse.
If you get lucky it can pay really well.It might be the same system here!
[quote="turnip"]I heard some European police were planniing a visit
Not sure if it's business or pleasure ?

I heard it too from a friend of mine who both parents are Cops in the Investigative Dision of the Berlin Police. They say a Delegation of Top and second brass class of the Berlin Police are comming here to Thailand to give Seminars on Crime fighting, prevention and deterrance to the Thai Police Force and on the same time visiting some of the tourist Towns in Thailland. I'll take this News with a pinch of salt cause It's hot News autumn in Germany/Beerland and all of the Top brass Police just had their extended vacation in July, August!

Thailand's never going to listen to a foreign "power".
Get real.
Police HQ in Berlin. Clerk: 'We have allocated a huge budget for training, and we haven't spent much of it yet, because tents and stuff in the forest don't cost much'. Senior man: 'That's OK. We'll have a trip to Thailand. I think it's quite warm there, and we'll talk for 10 minutes to a bunch of people who don't understand what we're saying. Then we'll obviously have to have a bit of R&R at a beach resort. Don't worry - put it down in the books as a serious convention. Clerk: Ok, sir. Can I come too? Senior man: On your bike...
I really don't think that there's much to worry about...

That's part of it Dawn. 80% is pure military; land, air and sea, and 10% police matters and 10% charitable work by the US engineering troops. Last I heard, 100% is paid by my tax dollars, and has been since this started in the early 80's.
Does anyone really think LOS would last two weeks if Vietnam got nasty, or two months if Burma did, or 2 minutes if China did? Not a chance in hell without outside support. More Generals than you can shake a stick at and one officer for every 20 troops, outdated equipment, high maintenance equipment bought from the "flavor of the day" country. Little organization, no war planning, marginal retention of enlisted men. I hope I'm not here if something serious happens. I'll come back a few weeks later when the help arrives. Pete
