Computer games in Hua Hin?

Post by Gish »

I was wondering where to buy software in Hua Hin? Specifically computer games, but I'd also like computer applications and console games as well. The copy place I found selling games and software in the night market had a poor selection and I thought the prices were too high. I'd also like to know if there is a place where they sell genuine computer games, the cheap yet legal versions they make for the local Thai market. I found one small stand selling a handful of Thai version computer games near Tesco, but nothing I was interested in. Specifically I want Orange Box and CoD4 as well as others, but I need genuine copies so I can play online. Anyway if there are any decent shops let me know, if not I'll pick up what I need when I head back to BKK. :)

You may want to try Tesco itself though I doubt you'll find what you're looking for - I've never seen genuine PC games for sale in Hua Hin. Most of mine come from torrents as playing online is next to impossible here with the crappy internet connections.

Almost through Half Life 2 Episode 2 now ... Bioshock or Crysis next!

Yeah, you're probably right about the crappy internet. Was hoping to play some Team Fortress 2 during the daytime, but the ping is probably too high. I'll just pick up something in the night market and get my TF2 key in BKK.

Played a bit of Bioshock, but I had too many crashes and just gave up. Am looking forward to Crysis as well, but it's gonna have to wait until I buy a new notebook.

Try the shop close to the (ladies room) at the back of the "tourist-square', on the side of "shopping-mall'

I wish you luck. We've tried to buy things there several times over the years - never anybody serving. I've often wondered what would happen if you just left the shop with the goods in your hand

Mind you, from what I've seen, they don't sell anything other than copies - of course, things could have changed.

Right, it'll need a heavy duty graphics card, don't think theres a system out there yet that can run it maxed out - graphics look awesome though. Far Cry 2 is also on the way this year ... there goes more working time!

In case anyone is interested in buying games in future, I did find what I was looking for. I picked up Orange Box at a toy store on the 3rd story of the Tesco building, in the movie theatre area. Unfortunately it was on my last day in HH, so I didn't get to test out my connection, but if am bored next time in HH I know where to go.
