Shenanigans!
Do you think it is time to again up the image of HHAD?
The name implies one thing, some threads are getting OTT, and this is how we are described in the Lonely Planet, under ''internet resources for Hua Hin'' - HHAD, A Good Resource For Night-Time Shenanigans.

The name HHAD does conjure up images of a website dedicated to evening shenanigans. No doubt it has attracted poon hounds and will continue to do so.
I suspect they are invariably disappointed to discover that for many of us the evening revels often consist of a beer or two, some tasty ba mee muu off a cart and an hour of snooker in the back soi on the way home.
Never mind, they can always hop the minivan back to Sodom-on-the-Gulf

Sorry not in right section Mods please move to General or something!
That's just it - I am not looking for shenanigans, I am already a member of Night Crawlers, thank you evry much (not much shenanigans in there either, I might add!).
It is just that Lonely Planet is giving the impression that HHAD is ONLY about night-time shenanigans. Subtle difference.
Hence, normal people (?), may be put off the site before they even enter.
Their loss and very sad.
What to do?

Lonely Planet have simply looked at our domain name and labelled us a nightlife website - we are actually quite grateful they have listed us as the only Hua Hin information website or "source of information" - so thanks LP. We'll certainly gain more readers than lose by it.
What would you want by "upping the image"? Remove all the nitty gritty debates, opinion, experiences and real information and only run promotional material for 5 star hotels? There are plenty of other publications that do this already and they have virtually no readers in comparison.

Yes, but think of all the backpackers who pass HH by!Georgy Porgy wrote:Sorry not in right section Mods please move to General or something!

I've been to Pattaya more than once and can't recall seeing more than a dozen bps in a very active city.

this one made me smile....
I remember when my mate and i chose to first come to HH.
We were up in Chang Mai and Carl suggested we moved on for a "bit of beach". He is a hater, like me, of the "full moon" crowds, and had gone through the LP book looking for a cool beach resort.....against most he had penciled "Hippies" or "Mooners"...
... against HH he had penciled YES!
We ended up having an idyllic 2 weeks in Ko Takiab.....and that why Im here now.....

I think HHAD has evolved into a very professional online information centre for HH and surrounding areas. They are well supported by reputible businesses and organizations from HH. The forums are both entertaining and very informative. However, I think its time to consider a name change that signifies the depth of information you provide to the user. I suggested HHAD to a friend considering a vacation to HH. Her immediate response was "isnt that about hookers and discos"..
That seems to be the usual female reaction until they look at the forums. Bit like labeling a book by its cover I suppose.Cowtown Comedy wrote:I suggested HHAD to a friend considering a vacation to HH. Her immediate response was "isnt that about hookers and discos"..
