Hello to all HHAD, I'm a thai wife move to HuaHin from Bangkok. Need something to do. I have work in property business for long time and I see alot of houses need care. What do you think if I want to do home care for expat house. I do really need to know what expat require for home care in huahin and what the price they can pay. I've done this in BKK but I haven't check what do people want in Huahin. Feel like new plant in the forrest.

Welcome to the board little imp. It will probably help people answer your question if you tell us exactly what you did as 'home care' in BKK - are we talking about cleaning, laundry and the like, or gardening, maintenance etc? As regards what people in Hua Hin will want and how much they would pay, a simple answer is 'as much as you can do for as little as possible'! As I say though, give us a bit more idea what you mean and you will get some sensible answers. :)

hi little imp,

if you are talking about domestic home care, cleaning, laundry and the like as wanderlust said, then there is a lot of requirements for that from many farangs.
i think for full time work the salary is around 6,000 - 7,000 Baht including food and room for you.
Some Thai ladies maybe work 2 days a week in 3 different houses. I don't know what the salary is for that.

Some farangs with a new baby want a 'nanny' too to help with their baby, I think the salary is the same as above.

Your English is very good and if you work the same I think you will have no problem finding good work and salary.

Good luck

Heres a tip mate....

when we (farangs) ask you to do something, and we pay you to do it, in farang-land, we expect you to do it and if y dont we get angry.

So forget Mai Pen Rai and Naam Jai....we dont have it or think that way. We just dont play by your rules ..... when we order something we expect delivery.

Do what you are paid to do to the best of your abilities.....and that will put you far far ahead of everyone else you compete with here in HH.... and you will be run off your feet with work and get lots of business.... if you want to do business with farangs become one ....its a lot easier and more profitable that way. if it goes wrong then just admit why and get on with the solution.....dont fob us off with some excuse..... we just wont accept it. Thats all part of farang land.

Do otherwise and you end up with all the rest of Thai and Farang businesses owners here in HH that offer second class service .... no repeat customers and a lot of grief. Jam today.... but no jam tomorrow.

Good luck fella ... and I do mean that!

Thanks for your replys, BUT I need to clarify myself and my position,

I am not looking for a maids job.

I am a business woman from bankok, and to answer one of your questions I have worked with farang companys for over 10 years. and married to a farang for 7.

I am looking to open a property care management company here in hua hin, the difference is in bkk all the clients lived in condo's. and there maid, driver was included in their work package, so the budget no problem.

here most people are retired and have a limited budget.

I see from some posts here, people have problems in their deveolpments, so a third party company could be the solution.

I take it that was you doing a parody of a typical condescending high-and-mighty farang.
Right ? :?

Hi Little Imp,

Sorry misunderstood you before.
There is a requirement for property management here. There are some companies with offices in town but they tend to be expensive and most people do not want to pay their prices.

There are many smaller family run businesses doing it at more reasonable prices.
While there are a lot of these companies around there is still a good business opportunity for you as there are many farangs asking for this service, ie: they do not already have a company.

Good luck,

little imp,
Thanks for the clarification. I would agree that there is a market here for what you are suggesting, which could also include arranging rentals for people who are only here for a couple of months every year. There is a couple of companies already offering the type of service you are thinking of (one is called Hua Hin Property Care I think) so it would probably be worth you doing some research into what they charge and what services they offer.
I think you are right in thinking that there are quite a few homeowners whose budget is limited but who would want some sort of service - maybe you could put together several different packages (e.g. basic, standard and deluxe) which offer more the more you pay. The thing most expats want is peace of mind, so the knowledge that anyone carrying out the work is reliable and trustworthy, and are not going to blab to their friends that 'this house has got plasma TV, laptops etc etc' thus making the chance of burglary higher. For the homeowners that only stay here occasionally, they are likely to want people to rent the house when they are away, gardening services, cleaning services, pool/jacuzzi maintenance, and possibly some sort of regular security check. They may also want a bill payment service for electric, water and telephone. For those resident permanently they will be interested in some of the above as well. Many people would also be interested in taxi services, and for someone to make arrangements for things like car hire too. There may also be some demand for babysitting and other child care services.
As I have said, in my opinion the number one thing will be reliability and people that can be trusted, so if you can promise and deliver those with proper background checks on staff and work carried out well I think you would have a very successful business. The biggest problem you are likely to encounter is finding good staff, but your experience in BKK will be of great help in that. Good luck if you decide to proceed with your idea.

Welcome to the board little imp - it is good to have more Thai nationals on here.

One thing I would mention about your business plans is that there are a couple of companies already offering these services in Hua Hin so check out your competition and just do it better!

Good luck

I'm looking for a cleaner also. Someone who turns up when they should and does a good job (by my standards)

Little Imp - I'd be very interested in using the services you are talking about offering.

Please keep us informed of the progress you make and good luck!
