No.2 bus station seems shut?

Post by usual suspect »

Is it just my eyes failing to inform my brain? (shut up you lot!),
but on recent times that I've gone by the 'Number 2' bus station/stop
near the rail-crossing its shutters have been down and no buses in sight..
..?? Theres no notices on the doors, nothing to say they have moved,or
maybe all the staff are inside as normal, but they felt the place needed
re-painting in a soft pastel colour...mmm?
Have not checked today, but all last week the doors were down.
Is there a new place for them now? (I checked the new depot near
Condo-chain to see if they were sharing, but no,only Korat/C.mai buses
there).

I didn't know they were numbered but I guess number 1 is the BKK bound office in the road that runs through the market. They were both run by the same government department so ask in number 1.

There has been talk for some time about a new depot in the railway road but I don't see how the bus would get there. They could never make a left into Soi 88.

They must have set up an alternative as all the buses heading south and the Hua Hin buses went from what you call number 2.

THERE IS A NEW Nice big clean MAIN BUS STATION ON THE MAIN ROAD 900 METRES SOUTH OF MARKET VILLAGE. (500-1500metres) FOR REAL.

I passed it and was thinking maybe it was some bus company to trick the tourists but it's real. the old bus station even has leaflets on it's counter showing a map of where it is.

I know from the new bus station near Market Village you have been able to get a bus direct to Khorat, twice a day for a few months now but it doesn’t stop in Bangkok. Maybe the normal Bangkok bus goes from there as well now.

It does for sure but still stops in the old number 1 bus station. the first class buses from hua hin anyway are old and crappy i'm guessing for a logical tourist reason but this is interesting:

If you are traveling to bangkok say after 10pm night you can get a shared taxi from opposite tesco express(opticians) for i pay 250 baht but the friendly motorbike taxi guy who has a nice little buisness there for himself will ask you how much will you pay. 200 is what the thais pay and likely you'll have 2 people in the back seat as far as petchaburi and then one can lie out for a fast trip to bkk and he'll drop you at victory or sukumvit or wherever is good for you and the driver. I've done that a number of times just to relax for up to an hour waiting and save me a taxi fare after arriving in bkk too..( lie back and doze- the optian step is clean enough.

these are returning taxis that have dropped their bkk-hua hin fare so it pays there lpg and then some.
