When the Thai authorities promote Thailand as a tourist destination the least they can do is to promote Thailand and not Scotland as they do here: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/travel/article-1236058/Thailand-uses-picture-Outer-Hebridean-island-promote-white-sand-beach-resort.html Just think how wonde...

Re: Number of tourists?

I agree largely with JoeDoc - but that post tsunami regeneration of interest in Phuket was, I think , more due to two things. The sympathy factor - Phuket did suffer - and did need tourist input. And the voyeuristic element - 'we've been to Phuket' type people. HuaHin could have picked up on the ty...

How about the BKK Thais, are they still coming in big numbers? I was in Ch-am two weeks ago, also did some running around in HH. Saw lots of BKK licence plates about. It was a long weekend so that may explain alot. Throughout the year, Cha Am is actually very busy over the weekends with Thai visito...

To JoeDoc, the fight appears more to be between Mr plum and SJ and in my mind your comments are also way way out of line on this occasion. Ken - My comments are not way out of line. If you are reading only this thread I can understand why you made this comment but I have been persistently insulted ...

Sarge - I’ll give you some advice. You obviously have deep rooted issues and pent up frustrations. I’m sure you must have major anxieties and worries. You also say you've had 3 heart attacks. Coming on this forum every day trying to pick fights with fellow members can’t be good for your health. If y...

For sure the tourist numbers are down and also its true the type of tourist here in Hua Hin are more family / couple orientated, less likely to "bar hop" There are many reasons for the fall in numbers, such as the general worldwide economic climate and the stronger baht, but I think Hua Hi...

Re: Scared of doctors - or just being you?

Here in the UK there is still no routine screening for testicular cancer. Unlike the automatic 3 yearly calls to mammogram for women of a certain age - there's finally talk of doing the same for men and their private bits! They have to want to go though. At the moment this is a depressing subject f...

Tamen - whilst I agree with many aspects in your post there are some things I take a different slant on. The fiasco of the Iraq war for one. If you come from the premise the US really wanted a stable Iraq, a quick war, restore democracy then get out sure, it was a complete fiasco. But if you think l...

There are at least factors at work. First and foremost is the role of America as the world’s leading debtor nation. America has been able to get away with its deficits because of the role of the dollar as the world’s reserve currency. The role of the dollar is coming to an end. There has been talk ...

junkies would no longer need to break in to peoples homes etc. to feed their habits. Why? Legalisation would increase the prices due to tax if anything. Portugal has already shown the way. They decriminalized all drugs 8 years ago. Despite concerns drug usage would increase, it actually decreased a...

These problems could be solved across the board easily. Legalize all drugs making it not worth dealers time to smuggle them and junkies would no longer need to break in to peoples homes etc. to feed their habits. Think of all the money saved by countries no longer needing to lock people up in jail f...
