It's all in the sauce

Post by PeteC »

I'm starting this to help me in a heated discussion I'm having over this side of the Gulf concerning the favourite of expats here. Any and all opinions welcome. Pete

If it's a bad cut of meat, any will do because you need the taste of the sauce to cover the taste of the meat.

If the steak is a good one, and grilled correctly, I think it's a sin to put any kind of sauce on it as the flavor of the meat is what you want. :thumb:

True, but a little in my opinion enhances, not destroys the taste.

Also, even though not a expat at present, welcome any opinions from other readers. Pete

I have to agree with the others - none of the above, maybe a little English mustard sometimes but if it is a nicely cooked steak (as I had on Saturday courtesy of JD) it doesn't need anything.

Me too - What happened to English Mustard (freshly made) with steak?

But out of the three mentioned sauces, HP would be the one on my breakfast table

Good strong english mustard and some lightly fried onions and lashings of garlic butter. If it's old boot steak tons of Maggi will add some flavour

If anyone wants to start on a good pork chop then it's got to be a strong apple sauce and a tangy mustard sauce

Hallo There Y'Alll!!!

Hmm... yougouys make the niagra falls mouthwatering outside my moyth!.

I was used to in Germany we eat our Steaks well cooked then on Top of that a well balanced mixture of Herb Butter. The best Germanie manufactured one is "Meggle Kraeuterbutter" Yhe intense Herb flavors mixes in with the tender taste of the Charcoal Grilled Meat. Hmm.... Simply delicous.

If the the meat is in fact overcooked and you need to have a sauce to top it I'll recommend I a Savoury Papper Sauce would do it as well.!!!

More Tips form across Europe will come shortly!!!

I'm sorry guys, but I have to join the Colmans English mustard brigade. Pepper sauce and garlic are fine, but they're still incomplete without the hot yellow magic.
