English Pies and Cakes

Both versions sound good Don. The Waitrose variety are in a pastry case with no topping - just a little arty garnish - so need a bit of cream. I'm wondering now which is the 'authentic' one!

Who introduced me to pies? you bastards...

I have never understood all the fuss over western food? we have access to some of the best tasting food in the world here in Asia.
I happily would, and indeed have lived for 5 years exclusively on beautiful Thai food. It tastes so much better than pies, pizzas, chips, etc...

Don't disagree with you Randy, but some folks get cravings! Seafood in particular in LOS is great and something I miss back here in Sleepy Hollow, where Thai prawns (when available) are over £15 a kilo!
Sorry this is straying off the pie topic but over on Victoria Point that indoor restaurant did a prawn curry dish which was distinctly addictive, and quite different to the Thai. I used to head straight there every month on the visa run. The craving would start even before getting on the boat.
I've heard that some food stalls in China would use mild addictive drugs in their meals to ensure repeat trade, and often wondered if that place on Victoria Point did the same!
BTW thats a serious question - anyone else had a similar experience?

I had some chicken with noodles in HH, definitely something extra in it.
I'd had only 2 beers prior to eating and lost most of the afternoon.
Still don't know where it went.

Hi Randy, You seem to be doing well on it. Looking at the pic I think you need to cut down on the Carbs a tad

Thanks for your post. :thumb:

Obviously I can't speak for your part of the UK, but all of the oriental shops in the Bristol are a lot cheaper than that, and they're always available. Are you buying yours from an oriental shop or a major outlet such as Tesco or Morrisons?

Ok send a CV, together with letters from your Doc, a picture of your Doctors broken scales, proving you are obese, due to eating all the pies, cakes etc.

A picture of your trousers waistband, :butt: min Measurement must be 150cm, and of course a brown envelope stuffed full of A$, (well this is Thailand) and the job is yours.

Health insurance, not included.

Regards Khundon.

Hi BigBoy - no I'm afraid there isn't easy access to oriental stores. I do check out Morrisons now and then but found Chonburi prawns (when available) better and cheaper in Somerfields.

Mags, don't know if this list is any good?

http://thailand-uk.com/

Sorry, can't do a direct link to the relevant section. But on the menu on the left, click on food and shopping. It has details of Thai stockists in the UK and on-line providers.

We tend to only get the really specialist stuff from Thai places, unless doing a trip to bigger stores like Wing-Yip, where prices can be okay compared to supermarkets.

Yes a good link Caller - thanks. It does list the one store I can get to in Scunny (bit of a trail mind by bus!) but I can recommend it. Tradewinds. Not so sure about their fresh foods though, except that they do get deliveries of Thai fruit and veg every Thursday. Customers have to look sharp - they sell out pretty quickly.
