My parents are staying at Mountain Vill. My mum was wakened at 2am and saw a shadow on her balcony outside her bedroom. She got up and found a young man lurking and looking in her room. Needless to say she screamed and he scarpered. A terrible experience for her and my dad. I am counting the days until we get there.
Unfortunately Foxxey you getting there won't really help the problem except to give your parents some peace of mind.
This thread has been going on for more than a month and it seems the problem is the same or worse. Has anyone pinpointed where these characters could be coming from? Are there any construction camps or tin shack villages nearby?
Apparently these perps still see the area as easy pickings with a low security presence.
If not happened already, a group of residents really needs to call a meeting with the development management as a first step. Pete

As a side line about this, when these type of things continue for a long time the odds of a confrontation happening are extremely high. That needs to be avoided as someone will get hurt.
I know of two cases in Pattaya where that happened. In one case the foreigner was knifed in the kidney. In the other case the foreigner was deported for assault on a Thai, yes, on the burglar. He was single with no Thai wife or Thai friends to help him with the system and the MIB simply made short work of a bad situation by getting rid of him. He hospitalized the Thai after beating him senseless with a cricket bat.
I really hope you folks get the situation under control down there. Songkran is coming up and the worst time for thefts as these people need funds to travel up-county to their homes for the holiday. Every spike in burglaries I've seen over here has been before Songkran and New Year's. This year we can add in the economic down turn and job losses here. Pete

I had a strange happening last night. Someone rang my doorbell (out on the road on the gate post) at midnight. Both of my dogs went crazy at the same time and by the time I got up, put my glasses on so I could see that far and looked out the window, there was no one there. I waited a minute or so until the dogs settled down, meaning whoever it was had left dog hearing and smelling range, and just went back to bed.
I hope this was just some drunk or kids playing a prank, but I fear it was someone trying to lure me out into the front yard for some darker reason. I think the ruckus raised by the dogs scared them off. The dogs get an extra biscuit today!

It could also mean they were checking to see if you had dogs HH. Protect them well for a while as not uncommon for a poison burger to get thrown into a yard to silence them before a break in.
Yes, I've been told many times "I think too much..." but given all these thefts going on and the economic times, thinking too much may be a good thing. Pete

If they do manage to get past the dogs and the always well lighted garden to the house, there will be a few more surprises in store for them. Lets just say I've gone full out with security measures so if they can get to me, no one is safe no matter what you do.
Heard of two break-ins last week at Mountain View Vill. The first must be the one described by Foxxey1968. And please correct me if I’m wrong but it sounds like the house is equipped with a security system on the lower level. The crook must have known this as he made his way along the top of the perimeter wall and then scaled up the pillar to the master bedroom balcony.
The second break-in was through an open bathroom window.
So my guess is that it’s the same person/s probably someone who worked on these houses during construction. And I bet there not staying too far away.
