There used to be a small shop that was roughly close to the police station. Imagine going south on Petchkasem and just before the main lights turn left. That whole plot has been torn down now. I think it's a street market in the evenings.
I used to get the best pork noddle soup for 10 Baht that I've ever had - fill up with as many beansprouts and mint and condiments as you want and the water was free.. Even the cops ate in there. Street food, brilliant.
I don't know the story behind it, but it's no longer there - toilets for the street market are.

New Franchise?

Thats right Lomu - the whole little Soi is tarted up now, and for what? Still seem to be roughly the same number of night stalls as before. Or at least no extra space for stalls than before.
I just hope the folks who lived down there have benefitted housing wise

There was a lady who had a stall in that row of open air eateries behind the temple, she did slow cooked Moo in a dark sauce, with noodles.

So so good and only 30 Baht.

She moved and got herself a stall on wheels and would always phone my wife to say where she was, so that I could find her and enjoy her food.

The last time I had her moo in 2004, she had set up directly opposite the Palace gates, with a couple of plastic tables and chairs.

Imagine trying to get away with that, outside Buckingham Palace.

I wonder where she is now.
I've lost my mind and I am making no effort to find it.
