Thanks for the warm welcome and the reponses.

To clarify, we were going to be charged £15 per person per day for breakfast, hence my query, it's good to know that we will be able to get breakfast elsewhere.

So looking forward to it!
As that is a 50% mark up on the hotel's listed price, I would suggest checking with your travel agent to identify where else they are ripping you off.

As SteveG wrote:
Yes, I hope they're not doing that as normally a booking through a travel company gets you a discount on the hotel rates not a mark-up.

I'm baffled :? Why would one pay to stay at the Antantara, and walk to another hotel? Is it better?

A genuine question, as I don't know either hotel except by name.
Price. White Sands is much cheaper.

We live in Bo Fai, so the easiest bit of beach for us to get to is down the side of White Sands. And we might have been known to have an occasional sundowner there as well. But we regularly see people with the brown towels from the Anantara in White Sands, for breakfast and lunch.

On a slight tangent, there's three beach massage stalls there as well. Always busy with folks coming out of the Anantara; and they give a very nice massage, if that's your thing.

Try Chao Lay for Seafood - walk by the Hilton on ur right) you will pass several places on the right - Chao Lay is at the end of Soi 57 - it has big tanks full of live (not for long) seafood. Excellent food... recommend Cotton Fish.

For authentic Thai food - try Sa Song road - many great Thai restaurants there -look for the one that looks that looks the scruffiest and has the most people!

Enjoy Anantara - Chas is right, its beautiful.

Hi, if you get a tuk tuk to town ( about 150/200 baht) you could try Sunshine Bakery opposite hilton or Luckys same road, down the side street by the7/11. Bothe are good and cheaper. Sunshine bakery has a website with menu and prices for you to check. Baan Itsara is very good for seafood also.

Have a lovely holiday.
