Beach Invasion By Kite Surfers
Re: Beach Invasion By Kite Surfers
You might as well petition to have motorbike riders obey traffic laws. A lot more people are injured, and killed weekly by bad bike driver incidents than will happen in 1000 years of kite surfing on the beach. Do you really think it will do any good? Good luck to you, though, if you try to proceed.
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

With no disrespect to anyone on this thread. It gets tiresome listening to people coming to the LOS figuring they can make a change to the way things are here. What will be will be. I think that's part of the attraction for people coming here? Less regulation that there homeland. I think anyone that's moved here can't deny it. If people can't except the way things are and figure they need to change things a return ticket might be the best thing for them. Thinking your efforts are going to make a change are lets say less than futile and if you've been hear a while you SHOULD understand that by now.fft100 wrote:hobiecat seems quite aggressive on this subject. I think the kitesurfers should think about the possible reaction if an accident occured where someone was injured by a kitesurfer. Prevention is better than cure.

Let's be realistic. Your chances of being nailed by a car or motor bike in town or trampled to death on the beach by a horse are far better.

The only things I regret are the things I didn't do

Hobiecat: i'm surprised you make it out of bed in the mornings with an attitude like that
Are you Thai? I not, spare us the lectures on what's right and for Thai society

There's a lot of beach in HH. If people are scared of having an accident with a wind surfer, well choose another piece of beach. There's only 7km to choose from?

thousands of deaths on the roads, millions for lack of medical stuff,murders,accidents,..........
Why are we here,is'nt it because the country and mentality is different from ours?
If we try to change their attitude, wouldnt they change their mentality aswell?
As Thai people wouldnt be anymore what they are,I wouldnt come back to this country.
We are foreigners and allowed to share their advantages,so we have to share their disavantages too.
What, if a foreigner comes to our country and try to change the laws and directives to his opinion,..........we would be

I agree also to points of vieuw from security reasons, but we wouldnt change and certainly I dont want to change "them"
Fact:-too much tourists:change your place (there are plenty of them)
-bus too dangerous:go by train
-train too scary:go by plane
-plane not safe: just walk
-too much surfers:there's thousands of km without in LOS
-..........endless list
TIT ,and everybody knows

(Sorry for my bad english)

Yes there's lots. Come on down on the week end and see for yourself. There's some great surfers from BKK. Although it may not be the right time to ask them "move to one end of the beach please".STEVE G wrote:Do many Thais kite surf?

Re: Beach Invasion By Kite Surfers
To be honest, when I'm in town I generally visit one of the local beaches everyday solely for the purpose of having lunch, so I've no problem with kite surfers as long as they don't knock my Tom Yum and beer off the table!
I used to swim in the sea quite a bit but I stopped after getting a nasty jellyfish sting that almost went in my face.

Have to admit I'm the same now. Used to love going in the sea but the only time possible for me now is after gained courage and bravery from a bottle of chang (make that 5).
If it's within arms reach, there's nothing to worry about!!
Re: Beach Invasion By Kite Surfers
I would actually like to do some kite surfing myself, just think though that the kite surfers should practice a bit more responsibility in where they choose to go out
Re: Beach Invasion By Kite Surfers
As I mentioned earlier, to me the ideal place for it seems to be further South where there are miles of empty beach as opposed to in the town centre where the beach is full of families staying in resort hotels.

Steve G : Many of the schools are further South from the busy Hilton end of the beach. One directly in front of the Condochain building for instance and one school appears to have 2 or 3 'stations' in different areas. Incidentally I was sat at Richards Beach Bar which is located to the left of the beach entrance directly opposite MV, alongside White Villa Hotel and talking to a Brit who is hoping to teach Kiteboarding and he said the school based there is owned by Israelis.

The surf season ends around Songkran if that makes any of you happy. Still i dont think its that big of a deal. I think all dogs, horses and farangs on jetskis is more disturbing then the surfers.
The school is runned by an Israeli a real nice guy. And the school i pak nam pran i runned by my swedish friend.
