This Voranai character may well use a foreigner to actually write stuff, many of these reporter types do, and still should be able to do a half-decent job with just Microsoft word.
Regarding the intruduction of the sex angle into Thai culture, then....well....it's the Chinese that introduced it, ie 'soapy' massage palaces/places that offer a "massage" that lasts 5 minutes then wonders onto other activities etc........that's Chinese culture and was here long before any Americans showed up, just more discretion to it, a 'rub n scrub' after work, then go take the wife and kids out for dinner.
What the Americans did was just to make it obvious in a western way with bars etc.
Heard a few people say "The Chinese introduced the sex industry, the Americans made it obvious."

Sex tourism and golf tourism are not as important as falangs like to think. Both are just components of the larger tourist industry which is mainly 1 & 2-week packages.
Go over to Koh Si Chang near Sri Racha and you'll count 30+ large ships at any time waiting to berth at the piers. They aren't carrying condoms or golf clubs.

Tourist revenue is peanuts to the Thai economy
