Best advice is simply to keep a low profile and act detached from most things. Pete

I've been traveling virtually all of my adult life and would certainly stick to that advice regardless of where you are.poptherock wrote:Best advice is simply to keep a low profile and act detached from most things. Re: Shooting in Hua Hin Saturday.
To get this thread back on topic rather than discussing the best way to avoid the same fate (which may be worthy of its very own thread)....
I do hope there is an uproar to this case and that money alone does not allow it to be swept under the carpet. Fortunately (terrible use of the word but can't think of another to illustrate my point)the poor woman in question seems to be from a fairly wealthy background thus giving the 'justice system' ,that is the corrupt police of Thailand, the chance to actually try and solve the case with the right amount of moolah being put in their pocket.

Re: Shooting in Hua Hin Saturday.
I believe their main development is Prime Nature (luxury villas & condos) between the Blue Lagoon & Dusit Resort, but they're a big outfit apparently and have other developments so that could well be one of them. It was just featured on a big report on a Thai news channel. On their Hua Hin website there's a memorial page and pic of her. And I think it happened outside them new Satukarn Square2 offices out towards that way, ie: North of HH centre. They also showed a re-enactment of another unresolved hit on a moving car, don't think it was related target-wise but related in that the MO was the same so the police have made this link!?barrys wrote:The woman was apparently a major housing developer currently involved in a project called "Pranladda" (or similar) in Pranburi - there was evidently a major dispute with a shareholder in that project, according to Thai press reports.
I was in Yam-s school hall at same time as her Thursday apparently when they had the Mother's day celebration thing, I remember looking at the glaring white mini on way out as it was unusual to see one here, but never knew of her at all. Apparently when parents were leaving and the kids off to their classes she hugged kid/s and cried quite unusually. But someone could be reading more into that than their really was.
As everyone's said it's a sad waste of life, especially a doting mother of 3 young kids, and they're gonna have this every Mother's day to come. Sad. R.I.P.

Absolutely shocking poor lady rest in peace, i feel so sorry for her family.
Another black cloud over Hua Hin, yes i know tourist's are genrally safe and all that, but there is quite a dark side to Hua Hin for the size of this town it's had more than it's fair share of serious crime making the news, this makes me wonder "is this the price some people have to pay chasing there dreams and making there fortune in Paradise City" i dont want Hua hin to have a bad rep as we love the place and one day will live here.
Lets all pray for the sake of this poor lady and her family, that the police make a speedy arrest of the perpetrators and justice be served quickly and not some pay off and disappiering act, i like many people and the media will follow this story and want to see action by the law in Hua Hin.
Kendo.

Another shocking needless death. RIP.

But why do we always seem to have speculation about these events?
That unfortunate lady, Sunattee Nerngchamnong, was killed in 2009.
I think that a bit more repect should be accorded to the families involved, regardless of who it is.

Then we have this:Governor wrote:According to a Bangkok newspaper today it was Phetcharat Sutsano, she was 42 and a manager for The Grand Diamond housing estate, she was reportedly murdered as she left her office on Phetkasem Road on Saturday.
The only picture that I can see is this: http://www.primenaturevilla.com/Super Joe wrote:I believe their main development is Prime Nature.................................

Re: Shooting in Hua Hin Saturday.
Its a very sad thing to happen and I feel for the family.
Too much to ask for, I know, but I hope its the last shooting HH experiences.

Re: Shooting in Hua Hin Saturday.
At the risk of being castigated I don't think members of the deceased family are all that interested in what speculation is on line in HHAD as the police and the Thai papers would expose them to the same with the information hopefully used to "solve" the crime!
Re: Shooting in Hua Hin Saturday.
So is it your view that we should lower ourselves to the level of the Thai gutter press?charlesh wrote:At the risk of being castigated I don't think members of the deceased family are all that interested in what speculation is on line in HHAD as the police and the Thai papers would expose them to the same with the information hopefully used to "solve" the crime!
I just wonder if you would have the same comment if the unfortunate victim was a member of your family.
It is one thing to report what actually happened, an entirely different matter to indulge in unsubstantiated "gossip".

Re: Shooting in Hua Hin Saturday.
You're over-reacting a bit Nereus, it was just a careless mistake on my part confusing this victim and the previous victim the police have linked to this incident in respect to their belief the perpetrators are the same. The Prime Nature victim was actually this first victim, so apologies everyone for that I should have checked the names & dates. A mistake in a message paying my respects to victim and family, is hardly showing disrespect. I deliberately decided not to put a link directly to the ladies picture as I thought it innapropriate, you've deliberately provided that link knowing it was the wrong personNereus wrote:I think that a bit more repect should be accorded to the families involved, regardless of who it is.

With regard to the earlier murder connected to Prime Nature Group, media reporting seemed to get this far:

Arrest Warrants Out for Hua Hin Millionaire's Killers
The Region 7 Provincial Police chief held a press conference to announce that arrest warrants have been released for the two suspected gunmen in the millionaire-killing case in Hua Hin.
The police are confident they have enough evidence to find the mastermind behind the murders.
Commissioner of the Region 7 Provincial Police Bureau, Police Lieutenant General Pongsan Jiem-on, together with the Commander of the Prachuap Khiri Khan Provincial Police, Major General Wichien Tuntawiraya, and the Commander of the Hua Hin Police Station, Colonel Dumrongsak Thong-ngamtrakul, held a press conference to announce progress in the investigation of the murder of Hua Hin millionaire Petcharat Sudsanoh.
Petcharat, owner of a major real estate firm in Hua Hin, was shot dead in front of her office in Hua Hin on August 13.
The Region 7 Provincial Police Bureau chief said the police have issued arrest warrants for two suspects, 48-year old Thiwat Boonnukul and 29-year old Kawee Meekaew.
Thiwat was identified as the driver and Kawee as the shooter.
The police say they now know who the mastermind is behind the killing.
Investigators are seeking additional evidence to confirm their suspicion.
Officers on the case have been ordered to hunt down the two suspects, as authorities fear the two may be killed to prevent exposure of the person who engineered the murder.

Re: Shooting in Hua Hin Saturday.
Very very sad to see that poor woman killed like that. I watched the video, and her last moments must have been terrifying. I had hoped HH was immune to this type of thing.
Re: Shooting in Hua Hin Saturday.
James, in the crazy world we are living in, I don't think you'd be immune to that type of action anywhere. It's just a crying shame when it happens in your own back yard.
