Rhubarb, public schools (IE. Tom Browns schooldays and 'If'), village pubs next to the church, spittoons and sawdust floors, gobstoppers, matrons, Doctor house calls, Carneby street, George Formby, Max Wall, Tommy Cooper, 'That was the week that was', cobbled streets, clogs, mill chimneys, soot, smog, one up and one down with toilet at bottom of the garden, trams, trolley buses, coal holes, steam engines, BR sandwiches, delivery boys, beef dripping with brown bits, impetigo, foot rot, mods and rockers, teddy-boys, hot pants, winkle pickers, bowler hats and brolleys, gentlemens clubs (Browns), horse riding in Hyde park, Prospect of Whitby pubs on the river, pints of heavy, mild and bitter, wheel tappers, smoking anywhere (pubs, tube, hospitals), bustles, garden parties (watch Marrilion) cricket on the green (vicar, blacksmith etc) with cucumber sandwiches.

The list is endless

I know you tend to forget about it because the bad behaviour gets all the news but one thing that people I know here who have visited the UK tell me that surprises them is how polite and helpful people are on the street if you ask them for directions or whatever compared with in other countries.
I've heard stories where people have gone out of their way to take strangers to places that they're trying to find which would never happen here.
