The Adventures of Robin Hood (Errol Flynn version)
The Thief of Baghdad (Sabu version)
The Three Musketeers (1948 version)
Treasure Island (1950 version)
Jungle Book (Sabu verson)

Saturday afternoons spent on a steady diet of classic matinee flicks on BBC2 and wrestling on ITV with my Grandad y see.....I still watch them now. Of course The Great Escape and Wizard of Oz belong in there as they were both BBC Xmas/Easter staples for years.

Other TV was classic 40s Flash Gordon series with Buster Crabbe, Harold Lloyd and Charlie Chaplin silents, laughing my ass off at Laurel and Hardy or the Marx Brothers or the Three Goons with my dad, Michael Bentines Potty Time, Tizwaz, Wombles, Magic Roundabout and Rhubarb and Custard.

Just watching that 'Step in Time' over again. The choreography is awesome. They could really bring it back then! Not like the shite you get now. :D

Whilst we're (I'm :D ) on the topic of 'scary' childhood viewing....

It's nice how the whole village stood idly by whilst the wicked, wicked man took two children away.

Haha. I don't actually remember them and I watched it loads. Was it Henson workshop or....?

Edit: It was and the same team did Dark Crystal. Labyrinth wiki page is quite interesting actually.

I think one of the very first films I saw...its taken a while to think...going back that far :P was Doris Day "By the light of the silvery moon" . Now that really shows my age!!

I suppose it was also:

"Annie get your gun"
"Davy Crockett king of the wild frontier"
"20,000 leagues under the sea"
"Seven brides for seven brothers"

I was very young then  I went to the local cinema with my sister who was 2 years older than me.

They used to show the main event plus the news plus a cartoon. The film came from the projection room at the back and sometimes snapped! It was the days when you bought a packet of crisps and they had the little blue salt bag inside. Very often in the dark, you would chew the salt bag up by mistake! Half time they would have the icecream lady walking backwards down the aisle, a little torch lit up her tray of choc ices. At the end they would play the anthem for the queen and we would all stand up. Happy days :D
