He didn't have to say it, I walk past the place most days. It infuriates me to watch a nice new restaurant being built in Thailand, and then they go and spoil it by furnishing it with plastic seats.

No worries, I will not entertain any restaurant with plastic seats. Such a shame because this particular one looks quite nice.

I have been patronizing Sakura since they openned. The food is very good and fair priced. I have beeen eating sushi since 1969 and have had some great sushi. As said this is a very clean, very good service and fresh food . I hope that the Thai/Euro food is equally as good for the baht. Those plastic chairs probably help keep the cost down.

So you have judged a new restaurant just on their seats this hardly seems fair or unbiased from a Moderator. Wat could have been a potential advertiser ..........

No, I have judged it by my own standards. I would not use garden furniture in my lounge or dining room at home. When I go out to eat I like it to be a little bit special, I do not want to drop my standards. To me it's as if the Project Manager either forgot to provision for proper furniture, or something else went over budget, and the quality of the furniture has been compromised as a result.

A year ago there would have been definite Health & Safety issues for me personally as well. Many farang diners will be over the safe usage weight for plastic furniture. Fortunately for me, I have never suffered a fall, but I have seen several farangs injured when the plastic furniture has given way.

As this thread is entitled Sakura Sushi I feel it should be stressed that Sukura has wooden chairs and NOT plastic ones. The restaurant with the plastic chairs is the new Thai/International restaurant next door to Sakura which is opening tomorrow.

Big Boy has a point. I have many friends who will not sit on the plastic chairs. The guys are just too big. They are not necessarily overweight either, that's just the way they are built. If you are 130 kilo+, no way you want to be sitting on plastic. One of them cracked a bone in his lower back after the chair gave way.

Those plastic chairs may be ok for the little Thais, but they can be a hazard for some falangs.

Yes, they are rubbish, as are most things made from plastic. Sit on a plastic chair at a plastic table, eating out of a plastic bowl with a plastic spoon and plastic chopsticks. Oh, and drink you water out of a plastic mug. :cuss:

Thank goodness we still get our beer in glass bottles. :thumb:

I guess you can tell, I really don't like plastic.
