WTF, I ordered my extras 4 months ago :?

I think you are making this up, Big Boy! Are you sure it is a Ford Dealer you are dealing with!

For me, i would be in there doing the ugly Farang act to the owner/ manager / franchise holder/ idiot / head monkey! It is well beyond what any reasonable person should be expected to put up with. Unbelievable B.S.! :guns:

I wish I was making it up. Basically, the main reason for calling me down to see them today was not to see my car, but to pay a huge deposit (20,000 Baht) on my extras before they ordered them.

You don`t need the extras fitted before you can drive it away!
I hope that when you eventually do get the thing there is no warranty problems with it, as to me it does not bode well for any future "service". I really believe that you should be taking this further with Ford directly, as it is all bad publicity for them. :?

Now you know why I moved away from owning a Ford. It was a great car, but the service just wasn't up to par.

They are ordering from Bangkok because Ford Sales and Service is the only place you can get the spares. They also supply spares to the dealerships. If they get annoyed with the dealership for some reason, they stop supply of spares. Full stop.

When I bought my Ford, there were two main players. One was the Yontrakit group, who brought in the European (Escort, Mondeo, Sierra) models. The other was the New Era group, and they brought in the Japanese and Korean models (Laser, Festiva, Aspire).

Niggles:
* I bought an Escort, but couldn't get it serviced at the New Era Ford just down the road from my place because they didn't do European models.

* if I went in on a Saturday to get a service done it makes sense as it is my day off. It is also usually one of the busiest days at the dealership. If, however they ran short of spares, they could not order part because Ford Sales only worked a five day week.(It may have changed by now)
I would then face to possibility of not having a car till the following week.

* Had a run-in with a pothole that damaged two mags up past Nakorn Sawan. Could not get a spare wheel (either steel or aluminium) for love or money as the PCD (pitch circle diameter) of the wheel was not a standard Japanese one. Had to borrow a pickup, drive to Bangkok, practically beg for one rim from Ford Sales personally, then drive all the way back to fit it on the car.

* When the dealership had a falling out with the main supplier, spares dried up. It was around this time that I threw in the towel and got a different brand of car. Sad, because I quite liked the Ford and it did drive well.

Hope it doesn't happen to you, but from the sounds of it the dealership may not have been able to order spares until the had an actual car to order it for. So much for computerisation.

It could also just be plain incompetence. :banghead:

Won't make any difference as it's been done before with no response.
I had an electrical failure which was finally attributed to the fusebox. A track on the printed circuit board had blown, not the fuse. Having access to x-ray equipment, I made a radiograph of the said item and had it sent to Ford Sales, pointing out where the circuit board had blown and it's associated fuse had not. They didn't give a rat's arse.:guns: A new replacement fusebox at the time was in excess of 5,000 baht. Would have been nice if some compensation had been received to offset what I believe to be defective workmanship.

Even though it's only 2 months late, and they still haven't managed to source all of the 'extras' that I only ordered 4 months ago, tomorrow is the big day. My shiny blue Ford Ranger will be ready(ish) to pick up.

Today's phone call from Ford advised that the earliest all of my extras would be available is 16th Sept. Fitting would be later than that again. However, they were prepared to let me have my car 'EARLY' and fit my other extras when they eventually arrive.

I'm so P'd off with Ford, I didn't even bother asking what had, and had not arrived.

Well, it was there as promised, and I now have it home. They even provided 2 bunches of flowers with it :? - Mrs BB says that is normal with a new car.

Very disappointed with the extras that haven't been fitted yet - the bucket liner for the back, and the pretty chrome bars that sit in the back bucket for people to hang on to.

The main thing is that I'm mobile again, and it's a very smooth ride. Plenty of poke under the bonnet when I tried it as well. I still think the car is great value for money.

Looks great BB, drama over, I hope. You never did talk much about your new house. I remember you being keen on a townhouse but the photo looks like a single family? Pete

Don't ask.......... it's a long story :D . We agreed on a new town house, but on the day we went to sign up for it, we ended up getting a semi-detached bungalow :? I didn't even know there were such things in Thailand.

We had to move in 2 months before it was finished because we inherited a couple of dogs, and we couldn't have them in our rented accommodation. The hardship gradually eased as time went on, and more and more bits were finished.

I've had a lot of customisations done, but it's finally finished, and we're all happy with what we've got.

It's nowhere near a large property, but it's perfect for what we need. My favourite part is the raised porch where I spend most of my day. From there it overlooks our own mini jungle, and you can see across Hua Hin to the Hilton. We have Hin Lek Fire just to the left of us, and a mountain view behind. I'm sure if you stood on the roof, there would be a sea view as well

The Ford Ranger finishes the house off nicely 8)
