Sounds like a wonderful idea to me.

About 5 years ago before Hua Hin became the overrun place that it is today. There was a similar boat trip that I had the priveledgeto be partof. I think there might be a few people left in town that will remeber the woeful tale of that Journey.

Five years ago the cost was 1000 Baht. The Vessel was a large steel hulled boat that was docked in Cha Am. Owned by a man from Lichenstein. A group of 20 or more residents at the time myself included left from Cha Am for the voyage to Pattaya.

A few people got very seasick and the seas were very choppy that day, downright rough. About halway through the voyage one of the intakes for one of the engines got clogged up with seaweed and the engine overheated. One of the Thai crew was able to jump overboard and unclog it.

The boat finally made it past the islands and arrived at the shore of Pattaya. The Captain moored the boat offshore and the crew was ferried to the beach by a longtail boat that we flagged down. It was a motley group of pirates that landed on the beach right at Central road that day, an invasion of sorts.

The group waded to shore and dispersed into the seemy underworld of Pattaya with orders to rendezvous on the beach at 10:00 hours the next morning. My mates and I wound up staying in some rooms above a bar near soi 7.

The next morning everyone started gathering at the shore and ferried back to the mother ship. We had 3 casualties. One who had been so seasick and got dehydrated and wound up in the hospital. Another who decide that he would rather return to Hua Hin by land , and one guy whou just missed the boat.He even tried hiring a speedboat to catch up with us but couldn't find us after we were underway.

The return trip was even rougher seas but we did mange to stop off at one of the Islands to do some swimming off of the boat.

Everyone that survived agreed it was a great trip and we planned another one. Some time after the trip our captain got a visit at his boat in Cha Am from some mafia types that told him in no uncertain terms that if the boat ever returned to Pattaya they would sink it.

The End,
"Relax said the nightman we are programmed to recieve. You can check out any time you like but you can never leave"
