Dirkepirk,

If you are walking down the road leading to the beach by the Hilton make a left turn right before you normally see the car/bike rentals and walk up those stairs. That will lead you to a whole bunch of karoake bars. No one really there till late though. Go there after 11pm.

Sorry Richard I have only just seen this question. The bar changed hands two years ago, Nancy kept the place next door and the about four months ago I was told she had gone to a monestary. I have heard she is back now but I have not seen for six months.

Hi
Sorry if this thread is old as on my server the posting dates do not show. If this place is still open can someone give slightly more detailed directions than the road leading to the Hilton

It is not the eassiest place to descibe but I'll try. Thr road that leads past the Hilton is Naresamri Road.. It runs from the dishing pier near Buffalo Bills to the crossroads bt the Sofitel. Near the sofitel between that street and the beach is the Night Bazaar. You get to night bazaar from either an alley way off Naresdamri Rado south of the Hilton or better from the street leading from the crossroads to the beachs. Turn left at the little kiosk renting motorcycles and will see Billy's Bar on your right, walk past that amd you will see Headstone Karaoke. This one has some western music. You have to ask a waitress for paper and pen and write down what you want. when it's your turn you get it. I think they have a menu aswell.

OK now? I blame all on cheap Chinese keyboards and software limitations.

Sleeping pills don't help either.

Thanks for the directions, I think. If you see someone with a dazed look on their face wandering anywhere close to where the directions have indicated please point me in the right direction.

Derf1, basically the place you are after is hidden away behind the gift shops on the corner between the Hilton and the beach, don’t look for a road, it’s a small half covered alley that you walk down, there is no traffic access.

Head down the road to the beach, go over the crossroads where the Hilton turnoff is on the left, just past this keep looking left, you will see a sign that says Billy’s Bar, a car - motorcycle hire booth and an Artist shop with paintings everywhere outside. Continue and park (if you’re lucky) anywhere. Walk back up, Where you’re looking for is on the Soi directly alongside the Artist’s shop. :thumb:

farang karaoke.

Post by vincent chang »

the suai suay condo hotel on the main road near the airport has a karaoke/coyote dancer bar. If you go early enough , like before 8 pm . the d.j. will let you sing like maybe 8 songs from the farang catalog. while you buy one drink. if you go later, they only let you sing 2 songs as the thai people there get sick of farang music after a while. you can have a coyote dancer sit with you and sing along for another 150 baht for 40 minutes plus a lady drink. but they tend to over charge sometimes when the bill comes. other than that it is a nice place to sing and the girls are pretty cute.

I thought coyote dancers had been banned in Thailand?
Mind you, this is an old thread.

Really? I'm sure it still goes on, but they are outlawed. Especially in, or near, temples or schools. I should have probably made that proviso, but The Culture Minister (whatever her name is) seems determined to turn the clock back centuries in Thailand.
Nevertheless, it will give her a voice and some justification for her existence.
The regulation regarding temples and schools, I can understand - but the underlying trend is not good.
