Seeing as you have obsessively made this personal I have to reply, yes you are correct, PT won 265 seats. Happy now?

I hope you reds will be happy if Thaksin's son does take over and the country returns to violence on the streets because the other 235 are not happy about the Shinawatra's continual rape and pillage.

This is my last on this sad subject.
Don't worry Buksi....

It seems Sarge still doesn't understand how the majority vote is accomplished in this country. As an ex army man himself, it's a little frustrating that you have to argue to try and make him understand. Age maybe plays a part, I'm not sure. Sorry Sarge, I mean you no disrespect, but you just can't seem to grasp it pal....

In short, the Shinawatra's and their ilk (the reds), are poison continually spilt onto the enhancement of this country.

But what was there before that was so good? Nothing. Not for the ordinary person anyway and certainly not those far from Bkk.

What you have to address is that Thaksin and his subsequent party leaders, however you dress it up, keep getting elected. How that happens, for whichever party, works both ways. All parties hand out money, often to the same people.

A military coup didn't subsequently affect who kept getting got voted back in, nor did the minor coup that saw Abhisit come to power.

Thailand's limited international credibility was become ever more perilous by the continual kicking out of those duly re-elected. So unless you have a full-on military dictatorship, which the rest of the world wouldn't have approved of, you have to have some sort of accommodation.

Sadly, many of Thailand's best minds are in exile and I can't see how the present status quo can be broken.

It reminds me of South Korea years ago. The elected president, Park Chung Hee, brought Korea out of the dark ages but the cost was rampant corruption.

In the west our politicians gain power by being in office, which leads to wealth. It is better covered but still results in tainted voting.

In the East the same thing happens, just more in the open.
The proper function of man is to live, not to exist. I shall not waste my days in trying to prolong them. I shall use my time.

Real democracy happens from the 'bottom up' to improve things....here we have it from the 'top down'.

Until they get rid of the patronage system then you can forget it.

No GLC it is you that still has NOT GOT IT
TRT won I was correct you did not get it
TRT won I was correct you still did not get it
PPP won I was correct you still did not get it
PT won I was correct and you still have not got it

Whether you love him, hate him, or loathe him Thaksin changed Thai politics forever.

Did he have some altruistic high ideal about educating the poor to realize THIER VOTE COUNTED
not in 100 Darth Vader light years he was just buying votes
However he did INADVERTANTLY teach them just that
He paid them directly because he could not compete in buying the Poo Yai Baans as it had always been done before 10,000Bt to the Poo Yai 5,000 for his own pocket and 5,000 for a pissup after which he marched his flock to vote single file checking to make sure they voted as directed.
Do I believe buying votes is democratic NO I DO NOT.
But it IS CLOSER to democracy than the POO YAI system

Another correction from me it is NOT 3 but 4 elections won and 3 elected Prime Ministers removed by a corrupt court and a coup de tat
The coup strengthened the poors new found freedom and belief their vote should count the subsequent court corruption strengthened that belief even more
The yellow shirt crap incensed them to the point they said if its good for the goose its good for the gander
AND STILL YOU DONT GET IT

Which brings us to today
PT are IMHO making bad policies the minimum wage and agri subsidies are all failed policies all over the world however after numerous decades of absolutely nothing it is understandable.

So what is wrong
There is NO CREDIBLE OPPOSITION by credible I mean a party that could beat PT in an election.

WHY
Because they are OBSESSIVELY following a path of slime slur malign and smear Thaksin / Yinglak and that OBSESSION is NOT even vaguely working with the poor.

WHY
Because they have put absolutely ZERO policies that may or may not encourage the voters to change and vote for them. Far from it their silence on policies tells the people they will revert back to the same old same old take care of the rich and screw the poor.

Uneducated masses Padipat/democrat are so stupid they are like you they just like getting their ars kicked because they are to arrogant to wake up

AND GET IT

I am soo soo sorry i am so stupid i took the words in red to be totally disrespectful and aggressive how silly of me

still i have only tobacco to make me undertake the 65 years of experience i have
16 years 365 days a year of living here
30 years married to 3 Thais
3 Thai families taken care of
daily Thai newspapers delivered and read daily for 10 years before i came here

so my experience is obviously limited mind you it seems odd i got it right 4 times to your zero

I must bow to your superior intelligence :butt: :butt: :butt: :butt:

No one doesnt there are three that think they do and two of them are wrong :D :D :D

The question is has the teacher now got it having had the lesson spelt out for you which you have studiously ignored to answer

I believe This country needs badly a CREDIBLE opposition, a belief which flies in the face of me being painted as a Mao Tse Tung red shirt.

What it definitely doesnt need is a back to the past mob of Luddites and it does not need inexperienced new blood it needs people of all ages to use experience and intelligence in all parties

Failing that we will all have to suffer the extremes of an all powerful freight train and no brakes

I thought this was just for political crimes? Mr. T's was to do with a land acuisition or something of that nature. This amnesty gets those responsible for the 2006 coup and 2010 crack down off the hook which is why some Red Shirts have been demonstrating.
