Gym Equipment
Re: Gym Equipment
Where could we buy a commercial model from in Hua Hin? Is it possible to buy refurbished models anywhere?jingjoe wrote:venice beach is right. Most of the domestic gym equipment available is poorly made and will fall apart.Trying to find someone to service it here is a big problem.
If you want treadmills or stationary bikes, buy a commercial model,it will set you back 70 to 80000bht a piece, but it will be solid and last a long time.

Re: Gym Equipment
Anybody got closer directions.....?Also there is a shop called Marathon on north Phetkasem opposite 51 (approx.) that sells running machines etc. have never looked inside
Looked for this place today with no luck.....

Re: Gym Equipment
Its hard to find driving along the road, its a small building with about 10 treadmills.I stumbled across it walking up from town oneday. Its virtually across the road from 51.
I thought the treadmills were not heavy enough for a decent jog, especially if you have a larger frame. They would probably be ok for walking.
Like venice beach alluded to earlier, better to travel to bkk,and visit ulimate fitness, there are a few other good stores, but can't think of there names. The bangkok stores will organize delivery.

I will have another look today......
Re: Gym Equipment
Several years ago there was a sporting goods store on the top floor of market village that sold some equipment and I bought a 50k baht elliptical trainer that had all the bells and whistles and worked great for about 7 years with approximately 3 times per week use. I sold that with my house as the buyer wanted it.
I decided to replace it in my rental with a treadmill. After exhaustive searches in person around Hua Hin, Cha-Am, and Pranburi, I decided there was nothing worthy here so I went to the internet. I found several companies that sell professional (health club) quality gym equipment in Bangkok and will deliver and set up in Hua Hin. Just search using Google.
I ended up buying the least expensive treadmill of the professional ones because I am not a runner (wanted it to just walk uphill) which is a Sole brand. It only has a 2.5 horsepower motor (most professional ones for running have at least a 3 hp motor) but is very well made and indeed appears to be professional gym quality. It cost me 47,900 baht delivered and set up in Hua Hin including a chest strap for the built in heart monitor and a floor mat to go under the machine.
Sole Thailand sells several machines with a stronger motor and even more features for a bit more, but online reviews mostly rate my machine high even for runners. I did ask about service here and about moving it (it's very big and heavy and has to be taken apart to get through the door of the room it is in) should I move to another house. They said they do provide service here (price depending on warranty status) and would disassemble it, move it and reassemble it in another Hua Hin location for 4 to 4.5k baht later should I need that service.
If you want contact information for the Sole rep in Bangkok, pm me. Other companies sell and deliver equipment to Hua Hin as well and I contacted them all, but Sole was the best rated (by consumers in America) for the price. So far it's working great and well worth the money.
I was only looking at treadmills, but nearly all the companies I contacted sold all types of gym machines and free weights too.

My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?
