Re: Missing girl on train found dead, raped
Absolutely horrendous crime - poor, poor girl.
Chain the b*****d up in a cell and let the girl's mother visit him with a bread knife. I'm sure she would obtain the desired result......
Seriously, I would see life (meaning life) imprisonment in a "suitable" Thai establishment being far, far worse than a quick death.... and deservedly so. As mentioned earlier in the thread, I would think rapists of young girls would receive their just deserts whilst imprisoned.

Although I am not against capital punishment, the death penalty for rape is not a good idea at all.
Instead of leaving it at "just a rape", if the offender knew he was facing execution, he would be far more likely to kill his victim as well, thereby preventing any chance of her acting as a witness.

Didn't help much in this case did it!
Had enough of the trolls. Going to sleep. I may be some time....
Re: Missing girl on train found dead, raped
I've just heard that the poor girl was still alive when she was thrown from the train.
Hang him up by his balls with piano wire and leave him to rot.

"Alcohol sale and drink will be banned on all trains"
http://englishnews.thaipbs.or.th/alcoho ... ed-trains/
Not sure this will help and one of the advantages of train travel over any other form of overland travel is the ability to relax and enjoy a drink while watching the countryside go by. Maybe a better idea would be to better screen potential employees and to add some security to the trains, especially the overnight ones... or as suggested in the article...
"...the SRT might introduce a lady’s carriage service – a carriage for female passengers only – in the future."

My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?
Re: Missing girl on train found dead, raped
Evil bastard! It's disturbing to think that this guy was hired to make the beds on the rail system and turns out to be a drug-taking, child-murdering rapist and does it so casually given the chance.
There is no punishment that matches crimes like this. The total absence of morals, total lack of respect for others and comprehension of what's right and wrong in some people is staggering.....along with the frequency and the casual fashion in which these crimes happen here, still surprises me.
These sort of people have no right to any kind of place in society and a North Korean gulag would be too comfortable for them.

SRT rape suspect admits 2 more
The man who confessed to raping a girl on a night train and throwing her body out a carriage window admitted Wednesday that he previously raped two women co-workers at the State Railway Authority of Thailand.
Wanchai Saengkhao shows how he strangled a 13-year-old girl before raping and killing her at a reenactment Wednesday.
Wanchai Saengkhao, the 22-year-old hired by the SRT to make beds in sleeper carriages, said he got away with earlier rapes because his victims were too scared to report him to police. That encouraged him to make a third attack, this time on a 13-year-old girl identified only as Nong Kaem, according to investigators.
He told police he had taken methamphetamine, or ya ba, after the sleeper train left Nakhon Si Thammarat station, and drank beer with other employees in the fourth sleeper car.

Re: Missing girl on train found dead, raped
So is it the Yaba rather than the alcohol? There was a programme on TV here in the UK just a few days ago - around the time that this poor young lass was killed in fact - about the increasing use of Yaba in Thailand. How it is uncontrolled, cut, instantly addictive and can cause long term psychological effects etc. From what was said the MIB do seem to be really trying to control it, but it's probably like trying to stick a finger in a dyke if you will pardon the expression!Bristolian wrote:SRT rape suspect admits 2 more

So in response to this admittedly horrific crime, the SRT powers that be decide that right - the answer is to ban all consumption of alcohol on trains. Well yippee - well thought out - not. In doing so the SRT becomes possibly the only rail operator in the world to take such a draconian step.
They are passing the buck IMO in order to be seen to do something. Rather than address the issue from inside and look at their recruitment procedures and security on trains.
We all know that armed transport police are on board the trains, which is a damn sight more than can be said for many other countries. Unfortunately we also know that come lights out time on sleeper trains SRT staff are nowhere to be seen until they come round to rattle your cage at 5.30 am or whatever.
Wouldn't it be much more effective - as well as re-assuring for other passengers - to conduct airport style drug checks as well as tightening up on recruitment screening? Or maybe even to make sure that onboard security staff actually stay awake and patrol?
Then just to confuse things the guy who has confessed to the rape and murder says that he was encouraged to rape again because he had already got away with it twice before. Which doesn't really sound like a spur of the moment drug/alcohol fueled crime, but more like something premeditated.....

Re: Missing girl on train found dead, raped
In general I am not in favor of the death penalty. Here in the US there are a number of cases being overturned every year by new DNA testing, proving innocent people convicted unjustly. There are far too many that have died for crimes they didn't commit and it is disheartening.
However, in crimes such as rape and in particular against children, I have no sympathy for such a person. As some believe, death is probably too good for him. If he were in the US, the other prisoners would probably take care of that for us without hesitation or remorse. I would image the same feelings apply in Thailand.

The death penalty is the answer.

What exactly would you screen him for? Did he have any previous before joining the SRT?hhfarang wrote:Maybe a better idea would be to better screen potential employees
I guess random drug tests might help prevent similar situations.

SRT admits to nepotism, corruption in hiring of Wanchai
Someone pulled the strings at the State Railway of Thailand, an institution with a long history of controversy and corruption, to get a job for the man police say raped and murdered a teen passenger on Sunday.
Despite having a criminal record, Wanchai Saengkao, 22, used his connections to a relative who works for SRT to land a job cleaning trains, where he routinely got drunk and high.
"The problem with employees who were hired through connections is that they think they're more privileged than others,” SRT Gov. Prapat Chongsanguan said. “They are not afraid to break the rules such as drinking on duty when the punishment is expulsion."
That relative even went so far as to conceal Wanchai’s criminal records, which included two drug-related prosecutions, according to Prapat.
As is the norm in the accountability-averse halls of power, the identity of that relative is being kept secret.
Wanchai reportedly submitted a forged, version of his criminal record scrubbed of any blemishes to the organization himself while a background check was supposed to be conducted by SRT staff.
Prapat added that Wanchai passed the admissions test and was hired along with other 89 candidates less than one month ago on June 16. The organization will redo background checks on the other new hires and require them to retake the test.
Before murdering the 13-year-old girl on Sunday, Wanchai also confessed to having raped two female railway employees in the past, both of whom he said were too embarrassed to report the crime.
In interviews, one of the female workers confirmed she was raped while the other claims she consented, Khaosod and Morning News reported.
