I’ve not seen the report but it’s right that if people don’t turn up for their vaccines, they should go to the next in the queue - they have a limited shelf life so have to be used relatively quickly

I think they have been using the vaccine asap, hence the 2 'extra' sessions they have held. IMHO, their systems for notifying people are so poor, there will be people who will miss their appointments through no fault of their own. I personally am monitoring messages for 5 Thai people who would be incapable of doing it for themselves. The people we are talking about are 60+ y.o. Thais with minimal education. I think the authorities realise this as well, and are giving these people a 2nd chance.

I agree that people who miss their slot should be moved to the next available. But losing their right to a vaccine! Come on.
And as BB pointed out, the system is so confusing that I'm sure many people don't even realise they've missed their appointment.

Just checked with my MIL who is getting her shot tomorrow in BKK. She says that her doctor/health worker sends her a text at least once a week confirming her appointment. The latest was yesterday confirming the time of her jab and what time to turn up.

Sounds labour intensive but the texts to your phone can be automated. It's already done for other systems.

My granddaughter was quite ill for about 3 days, but one of her group had to be admitted to hospital. Thankfully, all are well now,

... symptoms seem nasty - dizziness, sickness, hot and sweaty. The one who had both jabs had a very high temperature, but no other symptoms

My daughters, 26 & 35, in Bangkok, got AZ. The eldest was sick for 7 days, the youngest for 3 days. They were required to have due to work.

I notice a few people on the forum know of folk who've had quite bad side effects from the vaccines in Thailand. Curious to know if anyone outside of Thailand have come across any cases. Personally, I know 30-40 people who've had both their jabs now (a requirement at my place of work) who suffered no ill effects aside from a sore arm, myself included. And all the people they know of haven't suffered any.

Just found it strange I've not heard of a single case of bad side effects out of many yet in Thailand it appears it may be quite common.

Yep, add me to the list of 'no side effects' and hardly felt a thing from my arm after the first jab of Astra Zeneca.

They probably won't lose their right to a vaccine but will have to register again.

Yep. I suspect there's an extremely high degree of hypochondria in Thailand. Problems are usually resolved by a quick visit to the local clinic and the purchase of a course of completely useless pills.

Do you have any evidence to back up that suspicion?

You mean stats and scientific studies...? No, of course not, it was just an observation based on personal experience of a fairly decent number of Thai folk over the years. If I had any real evidence, it wouldn't be a suspicion, it would be a fact.

All the Thais that I know, when they're ill, just dismiss it and say, "it's nothing." Maybe if I was a family member they would act differently but I don't know.

Unless you've been following this thread on the forum for the past month, or happened to be in Bluport or Market Village the days of registration, you wouldn't know where to register or if there was any registration. It's not as if there were billboards on the street in English.

As I tend to be a hermit, I check in here regularly to find out what's going on in H.H. and Thailand that may affect me.

Although I’ve only read about having to be over 60 to register - I assume under 60’s will be way in the future, if the current rate of vaccine supply continues as it is?

It was mentioned in the daily brief. I wasn't paying much attention but they certainly said something about a delivery. Still nothing on the HHH, district or province sites though.

AstraZeneca said Thailand, which is manufacturing its vaccine locally, will have received its agreed quota of 6 million doses within this month, while export to other Southeast Asian countries will start in early July.

Two more days in this month.

Just got back from BKK having taken my MIL for her 1st AZ dose. Interestingly, her appointment for her 2nd jab is 12 weeks away despite the recent news that interval times are being reduced to 8 weeks.

It's been a long day. Never got out of the car once. Taking no chances.
