They’ve been producing it for a number of years, but at the moment it’s prohibitively expensive - they’re hoping that commercial production would bring the price down, but I wouldn’t bet on it - here’s one of many articles on the subjectcaller wrote: ↑Wed Mar 29, 2023 6:05 pm So the EU passed their plans to be carbon zero in all cars by 2035. It appears the change, at Germany's behest, is that ICEs can remain as long as zero emissions are produced. So I guess the race is on for a synthetic petrol. It will be a game changer if that happens.
It gets pretty good reviews from the UK motoring press - here’s one article
Ah, okay, thanks for that. I wasn't aware.Dannie Boy wrote: ↑Wed Mar 29, 2023 6:24 pmThey’ve been producing it for a number of years, but at the moment it’s prohibitively expensive - they’re hoping that commercial production would bring the price down, but I wouldn’t bet on it - here’s one of many articles on the subject

Well, IMHO absolutely cock all to do with what they are saying - Chinese Government or their Carmakers...... "The Truth Is Out There", may well be a message for a Sci-Fi fan like myself, but not with these guys. The lies from the Chinese regarding emissions etc. are quite something.STEVE G wrote: ↑Thu Mar 30, 2023 9:02 pm Legacy auto faces disaster in China with unsellable cars as pollution crunch looms:
Potentially millions of petrol and diesel cars may about to become unsellable in China as the country implements new vehicle emissions standards, and as EV demand booms. With China already experiencing a car inventory crisis, the next three months could spell disaster for some legacy auto companies.

It's the West's resistance to EVs that's giving China's auto industry a unique chance to gain an advantage.pharvey wrote: ↑Fri Mar 31, 2023 8:09 pmWell, IMHO absolutely cock all to do with what they are saying - Chinese Government or their Carmakers...... I worked extensively within the Power, Chemical, Mining industries, but our company trying to reduce pollution - the LHG was with me, but we seriously got shunned by the Chinese Government one way or another.. (for always guilty regards to the LHG).
Another British guy I knew was in the same city and was working for a UK car company - the horror stories he told me about Safety Testing (of Chinese vehicles), was quite incredible.
Be careful, be very careful..........

No Steve, it's not - well not entirely. Been there and seen it for many years. Have seen copies of equipment never good - a danger to themselves and all, purely for money.
Well we could try making better EVs than the Chinese instead of living in denial of where the future lies.pharvey wrote: ↑Fri Mar 31, 2023 10:09 pmNo Steve, it's not - well not entirely. We need to move forward and sorry, but I say "We" as the West or well..... Neither Russia or China or their hangers on. "We, the West" have sold out - African nations and others included - anyone basically that has something to sell and something China needs... or rather wants to control.
Shite, what in my house isn't Chinese/Chinese made/Chinese "implants"? The LHG herself is way, way pi$$ed off.... Christ, I only recently boasted about mt Hisense TV.... Then, where are the materials from anything, from my car, my washing machine, my gutter............
Sorry -![]()

Do you believe they build better or cheaper? Sorry, but I'm the latter.
