Hua Hin water shortage
Hua Hin water shortage
The municipality have issued the following today, which if my translator is correct, water will only flow from 5am until 10:30 each day.
Basically, anybody without storage tanks need to fill their containers early morning.
Yay maybe they'll have to cancel Songkran.

There will be plenty flowing all over the streets next week, maybe they're saving it for that...

I've just driven by the small reservoir by the flyover - bone dry.

I don't know, but I've read they are desperately trying to find alternatives for Pranburi water, with the capacity at the dam below 25%. Meanwhile, my daughter is on town water (without a tank) and has been rationed for several days already. So probably both.

The notice posted by BB is from tesaban hh water.caller wrote:Do you know if this is town or Pranburi water?
Re: Hua Hin water shortage
Okay, thanks for the above responses. Okay where I am with Pranburi water right now.

Re: Hua Hin water shortage
Just seen this on Hua Hin FB. Town water will be reduced or stopped in various parts of HH today (10th). It's in Thai, but anyway...

Has anybody else noticed the different smell of water since Songkran? My daughter (doesn't live at my house) mentioned it a couple of days ago. She doesn't have a tank, and says the (she thinks its chlorine) smell is very strong. We have a massive tank, but the smell is gradually becoming more prominent. I liken it to TCP, but that's a very old nose
I presume a different source/receiving additional treatment. It certainly doesn't bother me.

I wouldn’t have full confidence that the water is properly tested to ensure it meets minimum standards - maybe I’m too pessimistic, but I certainly would consume any orally (hold your breath when talking a shower)

Re: Hua Hin water shortage
My limited knowledge of pool chemistry says that chlorine in water only has a strong smell after it has combined with a lot of impurities in the water (the kids' pool at a swimming baths will always smell more!). So the chlorine must have to be working overtime in the current supply. Let' hope it's enough.Big Boy wrote: ↑Fri Apr 19, 2024 5:34 pm Has anybody else noticed the different smell of water since Songkran? I certainly don't drink or brush my teeth with tap water, although I do clean my toothbrush with it.
Re: Hua Hin water shortage
I'm not at all bothered by the aroma. Like most, tap water is for cleaning, not drinking.

How is the water situation in apartment buildings in Hua Hin? I guess they do not have a water tank to get water delivery by truck or do they?
Re: Hua Hin water shortage
I've driven under the flyover at the South of town a few times today. A large queue of water trucks waiting to fill up.
