South Africa vs New Zealand: -
Another classic between these two, despite several errors from both sides. The arrogant bugger that is NZ’s Fly-Half McKenzie kicked all of NZ’s points, but missed two sitters which ultimately proved very costly for the “Blackness”. It’s certainly not often NZ fail to score a try in a Test Match (the last time being 2018). SA on the other hand scored 2, one apiece for Captain Kolisi and Marx – the former had another cracking game and it’ll be a loss to the game when he calls time on his playing days.
A tight 1st Half with both defenses proving incredibly difficult – NZ though probably coming out on top with their Backrow and turnovers….. 9-3 in NZ’s favour at HT.
Seemed to be a similar story as last week, with SA’s Bench proving decisive and the Boks taking control in the last 20 mins. Both sides were reduced to 14 at times, SA on 2 occasions, with 3 Yellow Cards in total being handed out.
SA ran out 18-12 winners, the 1st time in 75 years that they have beaten the All Blacks in four straight Tests - not a record Scott Robertson would want after now losing 3 out of his 1st 4 Tests as NZ Head Coach.
Argentina vs Australia: -
Certainly not quite the result I was expecting.... A win for the Pumas yes, but Crikey - if the Pumas play like this in a couple of week's time, things are going to be interesting against SA!!
If ever there was a game of two halves…. Australia went in at HT 20-17 up – at one point leading the Pumas by 20-3, although their 1st try was a tad questionable IMHO. The Pumas actually had a try (quite rightly) disallowed moments after the Crims “scored” their 1st…. Australia seemed to be on top for the first 30mins or so, (Argentina’s handling errors playing a big part) but thereafter things truly went Tits Up for them. The Pumas bounce back with 2 tries of their own before HT.
The 2nd Half saw the Pumas continuing where they left off, storming to a 41-20 lead before Australia scored a consolation try in the 70th minute. Sadly for Australia, the Pumas weren’t done, crossing the line a further
FOUR times in the final 10 minutes!
Argentina outscored Australia 50 vs 7 in the 2nd Half, taking the scoreline to a resounding 67-27 win…. The highest score against Australia in their history. The records will show Australia’s biggest defeat came in the form of a 53-8 loss to SA in 2009, but hell….
