It seems to me that the thing that allured most of us to Hua Hin in the first instance is being swallowed up by a menace that can only be described as hell on earth. Long gone are the days when you can sit out on your balcony and watch the swaying palm fronds while slipping into a state of total relaxation. Or kick back in the yard with a few pals and a case of cold beer chatting about life, the universe and everything.
Now you would be lucky to hear yourself think over the incessant, unrelenting, torturous din of hammers, drills, grinders, band saws, planers, sanders and chisels. Nearly every soi in this town is being polluted by the viral like spread of construction in Hua Hin. I must have been down at least 15 different sois on my general travels last week and not one was void of the cacophony of construction or the Issan ninja building squad doing overtime to knock up another tacky faceless shed that will no doubt be sold to some fat retired westerner for 4 times its value.
The peaceful, once quiet, town of Hua Hin is being consumed by builders, we may as well all be living in Milton bloody Keynes.
