Kelpie Kiss,
Thanks for that report.
That is one place I will not be rushing to try.
The Manager's response was outrageous. I would certainly let the Owner know if I new him, however I would not return. Free food or not.
It would be interesting if someone else who is impartial, went and ordered sausages and see whether KK's experience was just caused by all the staff having a bad day.
Whatever the service was like, I request that you dont actually eat the sausages.
You only live once.

Minifarm is a great place to eat. But it is not a place where you can eat beef steak. I had there once beef steak with my wife and both steakes were like chewing gum. They have good Thai-food, EG their asparagus is splendid.

Just back from there. You should go and speak to Khun Aliwan. She told me a few minutes ago that she's in charge of the restaurant. She understands English quite well.

Please give the place a break. Staff problems are everywhere and I noticed not too many of the old staff there, so please give them a chance.

Just been away for a few days and read the topic here - one person's bad experience at a restaurant that he had eaten at quite a few times (prior to this one experience) and the food had been OK.

Both Parahandy and I have lived in the Hua Hin area for over 5 years. We always use All-In Hua Hin as our base when we're shopping (once every two or three weeks) - you can add it up! Sometimes the service is a bit slow - but with a wave of an arm and a smile we can usually attract the attention of a waitress. We have never had a bad meal there.

I really don't think that one bad experience at a restaurant warrants such a public thread. Especially as the owners (who are always ready and willing to listen to customers' comments and/or complaints) weren't there to sort out the problem.

VS

PS: They've got lovely clean loos. And English bacon that would knock the socks of any bacon bought in England.

ever go back

Post by huahinsimon »

KK, did you ever go back to AIHH? I'm sure after reading this thread The owner is anxious to meet you and get it all sorted. Many have seconded your opinion and many have defended AIHH.

May I suggest you owe the readers of your thread and AIHH the courtesy of closure on your post. A strongly worded complaint with no attempt at reconcillation is not "cricket" is it? or am I off base here?

Looking forward to your report :thumb:

Sorry Vital Spark - I've lived in the area too for as long as you and whilst it appears I haven't used the restaurant as much as you, I would say AIHH has the least attentive staff I've ever came across in Hua Hin. Yes I've had good experiences there too, as I said earlier post, it seems to be hit or miss. The reason I go back is because, (barring serving deep-fried rawish sausage), the food is good and they sell a product difficult to match elsewhere. As for the toilets, last time I used them they were grubby, but perhaps they have cleaned them up since then. You also say it was only 1 bad experience for KK. I've had a few bad experiences in there, 1 of them terrible and if it was as bad as KK said it was, isn't that enough? For me, I now go in there expecting slow inattentive service and anything better is a bonus.

Huahinsimon - why should someone who has been shouted at and humiliated have a duty to go back to face the owner? I would say its the other way around - the manager has a duty to respect the customers and the owner has a duty to find a good manager.

I agree that it is not the 'duty' of someone who has had bad service to go back and speak to the owner, but if everyone follows that pattern then the owner never knows that they have bad staff, and thus cannot fulfil the duty you are expecting of them - no doubt when the owner is there everything is done properly.

experience

If I had been treated as rudely as the OP here, I would never have gone back. Such behavior is unconscionable and totally unacceptable whether the owner was present or not. ( What ever happened to "greng jai"?)

I have been in many situations where mistakes in service have been made, where the wrong food has appeared, where stuff like eating utensils or napkins are missing from the table, where the staff is obviously trying their best to cope with some situation or disaster or where someone is being trained . . . and where a bit of patience is required of me as a customer. That is not what happened here at all and the over-the top rudeness of the staff, whatever the complaint or whatever the problem was just uncalled for.

Unlike the OP, I just would not have paid for unsatisfactory food. I would have walked out rather earlier in the proceedings too and avoided a scene in front of others. . .but that is me.

I have eaten at AIHH a couple of times, but not recently. I dont remember details, but it was not a terrific experience as evidenced by the fact that have never been back. And based on what happened to the OP I am certainly not encouraged to stop by again. Too many other great choices in town to risk it.

"duty"

Jockey, read my post below:

No mention of DUTY, sir. mention of "courtesy" to readers and owner. In his following post Wanderlust picked up your erroneous use of the word "duty" and continued with it.

KK raked AIHH over the coals and most likely with cause. I agree that the order of action should be the owner contact KK, if he left his cell or the owner reads this forum it's possible , baring that the ball is in KK's court.

Come on man, its not such a difficult thing to go into a place and ask to speak to the owner and politely explain your experience. Its not like being asked to give a public speech, which most people rate as a number one fear.

I went through a similar exp with YOBT. I had an issue with the fish and chips. Bill had published an offer to personally cook a meal if anyone was dissatisfied. I met Bill, he explained that when he's not there the staff are tempted to take short cuts. He cooked. I took pictures of the fish and chips he served and he uses them on his website now, instead of the stock picture of fish and chips his webmaster found, which look nothing like or as tasty as Bill's. So Bill got a big benefit out of my return visit, I got to experience his best effort and have returned again. It was a win/win situation for all, if I am not wrong, which I often am.

I recently had a rather bizzare experience at Mai Tai near the Hilton .A few of us met for pre-dinner drinks as we often do .Around six we took a table and were served drinks by a polite and attentive waiter .Around six-thirty a woman with a face like thunder charged across the place and roared in Thai that the table was reserved and we must go to another table .She then started in English "YOU,YOU GO THAT TABLE "

I calmly asked what time the table was reserved for and pointed out that this was the first we had heard of the matter .She charged back across the restaurant which BTW was fairly empty only to charge back again and slam a reserved 8pm sign down on the table .This was at ten past seven so we said no problem we will be gone by seven thirty .Hysterical abuse and wild gestures ensued and continued as she marched about all over the place .We asked for the bill and paid it whilst all laughing mainly in disbelief at this womans behaviour .

No tip of course

Well, here, I have to express surprise, as well. I've been a regular (for quite a few years) & not so regular (I don't go out much! :( ) customer of Mai Thai since I came to HH (6+ yrs). I've never had bad service there, I've never seen anyone else get bad service & I've certainly never seen anyone shouted at! Those tables by the road do get reserved fairly frequently (why anyone would want to be closer to the exhaust fumes & wooden frog vendors is beyond me, but each to their own), but even when I've been inadvertently sat at one, I've been asked politely to move.

Can't imagine who the wild staff member was...

Oh, the last time I was there was last Sunday, so although I don't go out much, it is usually a stop when I do & the staff are still very nice, IMO. :)
