had to change to tiger pints
Been drinking Guinness all my life in Ireland and quite a bit here also.I'd put the guinness here at 8/9 out of 10.But it must be in an air-con bar, the pipes must be cleaned regurlar & in this heat the keg has an oxidised open life of 5 days.Guinness is a tempature devil too cold and the head is yellowish, too warm and it tastes shite, but the main one is clean pipes, most good bars will clean them twice a week and what they lose before cleaning them becomes becomes gravy, pies etc.
In Dublin if you get a bad pint you would return it-I done the same in a famous bar in Bangkok last week.

I went to O'Neills two weeks ago to watch the England - All Blacks game.

The TV sound was terrible, the staff rather disinterested and the mess behind the bar unattractive. There was no sign of management - I shall not return, and went elsewhere last week.

irish pub

the system for cleaning draft beer lines is different here to everywhere else, here the supplier comes round weekly or when you order draft beer and clean the pumps for you.

not to the same standards we are used to, suppose if your not open in the day or not nice to the delivery guys can be not so regular cleaning.

one main grudge here is, most farang owners have never worked a bar before and dont know the first thing about keeping beer.

1) they turn off the fridges and coolers at night, so if you like a drink at lunchtime you get warm soup, if the bottled beer changes temp daily thats when it tastes like shite.

2) dont understand if you leave the fridges running and coolers it costs less money than turning them on and off. as the coolers take about 4 hrs to get down to temp.

True, but most bars with imported beers that I've come across in Thailand choose to clean them themselfs after they see the waste and the amount of strong cleaning fluid they use.

Yellow Fizzy Water (YFW)

I've been going to Thailand for about 10 years and to HH for about 5. While I love it over there I find the beer lacking. It is either rot-gut or YFW. Now for a long time we had the same problem in the States, basically American YFW (AYFW). But we have grown up in the USofA and now have a lot of great microbreweries.

Last September I went to Thailand and then to Guam on business and then to HH. The worst of both worlds -- YFW and AYFWl

So I was in HH for 4 nights doing the YFW tour, when I stumbled on Murphy's. Damn -- 7 great , cold beers on draft. A couple of them and a nice beer buzz then on to YFW.

I know where I am going next month when I do the Thailand-Guam-HH tour again

Yo

Not sure why the negagtivity on this Bar, El Murphy's is one of 4 bars in Hua Hin with 4 walls, Air Con and Draught Beer.

El Murphy's
O Niel's
Buffalo Tavern
Butterfly Rock

With the exception of 55th corner the rest are lucky to have 3 walls a fridge and a Pool Table of some description.

I have found El Murphy's excellent draught beer and delicious food, the band at night a great also.

The band gets better and better, liked the guests the other night, girlfriend and boyfriend, both great singer's, even though only 3 songs.

The girl was obviously an exhibitionist, probably semi pro singer, hope they come back.
