food in Hua Hin

Hey Flyguy, I stayed at the Hilton a few times. Just across the street from the Hilton is a place called Sawadee. My thai "lady-friend" preferred it. I thought the food was very good. Big thai selection at prices that seemed inexpensive to me (coming from the very expensive city of San Fra...

Family friendly

I've stayed at the Hilton a few times. Have seen families there. They have an activities desk too. I think they have programs available to keep the kids entertained too. Not sure of the cost for those activities though. There's also a movie theater which shows a few movies daily - mostly family orie...

Hua Hin Jazz Festival dates?

Has anybody heard the dates for the Hua Hin Jazz Festival this year?

I'm trying to plan a trip there, but haven't seen any dates out on the internet yet.

Thanks for your help.

BKK - Hua Hin flight

I forgot one more thing... This last trip out I mentioned that I took a taxi (at about 11:30pm by the time I got off the plane, picked up my luggage, made the taxi arrangements etc) from BKK to the Conrad Hotel in Bangkok and had also arranged for a "limo" to take me from the hotel to Hua ...

Flights from BKK - Hua Hin

As a frequent business traveler and Hilton point slave, the shuttle flight from BKK-Hua Hin sounds great to me!!! After flying from San Francisco - Narita (11 hours) then Narita - BKK (another 6hours think?) I would love to jump on that little cessna to get me to Hua Hin right away... if only the co...

Condition in Phuket?

Hey Bamboo Grove, When in Phuket, what was the condition of Karon Beach area? I checked a few websites and found one -http://www.sawadee.com/tsunami/hotels.htm which seemed to indicate that most hotels along Karon Beach suffered very little if any damage? Meanwhile just a few minutes up the road, ma...

Can't we all just get along?

The reality is that people don't want to spend hours reviewing long strings of messages to see if anything has changed, when they can simply post a quick question and hope someone posts a quick - friendly- reply. I've found this site a great resource both in reviewing the old messages, and in quick ...

Hey Baldie, A friend was in HH in October last year and said it rained for a short time one day but was nice the rest of that day and the rest of her stay. I was there in April, the Hot season, and found it very nice. The gentle breeze off the gulf made it seem a little less hot/humid. According to ...

I recommend Hilton

Hey there, I stayed at the Hilton last year and will be staying there again this year. I would highly recommend it. There are a few photos on their webpage: http://www.hilton.com/en/hotels/content/HHQHIHI/media/pdf/en_HHQHIHI_fact_sheet.pdf Extremely beautiful rooms. Guest friendly (as long as you'r...

Hilton was very nice

Aloha HonoluluJimmy, I stayed at the Hilton last year, and will be staying there again this year. While VERY expensive in Thai standards, still cheap compared to Honolulu. I'm a business traveler and stay at Hilton hotels all over. The Hilton Hua Hin is by FAR the nicest of any I've ever stayed. The...

Last year (Apr 2003) the travel desk at the Hilton connected me to a nice couple (I presumed) to drive me around. The wife understood and spoke a little English. I don't know ANY Thai and we got along just fine. She helped me learn a little Thai along the drive. The husband was the driver. They took...

1st beer's on me

Hey Buksida and Philip,

I just wanted to say thanks for the input. If you're in Hua Hin at the end of October we'll have to get together for a beer.

Any other info/advice will still be appreciated.

Thanks again,

Jon

Is there any good snorkling near Hua Hin?

Hello all, I'll be coming to Hua Hin for about 10 days/nights in October. Keeping in mind that I'm originally from Hawaii, is there anyplace for good snorkeling around/near Hua Hin i.e. calm clear waters, relatively safe from predators etc? If you have any info, I'd appreciate it. Please let me know...

Hey Buksida, Thanks for the input. So...it sounds like taking care of my bargirl at the end of my stay is the norm? What would be, on average, the rate for 10 days/nights (end of October)? If I'm settling the "bill" at the end of my stay, should I also be slipping her a few baht for lunch ...

Can you help a rookie out?

Ok guys, I've got some questions for the experts out there. I was in Hua Hin last 4/03 and found myself unprepared for what was in store. I'm returning this October and thought I'd try to get a better handle on how things work out there. I'm hoping to find a girl to spend some time with for the week...
